September 7 Meeting Minutes

KAYCEE LADIES AUXILIARY MEETING MINUTES

AUGUST 7, 2023

1. CALL TO ORDER

PRESIDENT – Grace Cazes called the meeting to order with the Opening Prayer of St. Francis and Pledge of Allegiance.

2. ROLL CALL/NAME TAGS/MONEY BOX FINES

VICE PRESIDENT – In Julie Giroir’s absence, President Grace Cazes provided the roster to all attendees to note their presence at the meeting. Prayer requests were included on this sheet. Name tag collections were $.50. Vonnie Bond was recognized as a guest

Membership: Theresa Tracy signed up as a new member joining the auxiliary.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM LAST MEETING

RECORDING SECRETARY – Lynn Hitchcock reported that the Minutes of the August meeting were emailed to the membership on September 1 and asked if there were any corrections to these minutes as issued. No corrections or additions were presented. The minutes were approved as emailed by President, Grace Cazes.

4. CARDS SENT FOR BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES, MISCELLANEOUS FOR KNIGHTS AND AUXILIARY

CORRESPONDING SECRETARY – Laura Roshto reports on cards sent, etc. See Attached Report.

5. ACCOUNT BALANCE

TREASURER – Eretta Perrien reports expenses and account balance. See Attached Report.

6. NEW BUSINESS ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED

  • A. SEPTEMBER 2023 COMMUNITY DONATION

    • CAROLYN GRAVOIS /MEDIA MISSIONARIES Carolyn was not available, so the item was delayed.

    • COMMUNITY DONATION RECOMMENDATION BY LORRAINE LAURET. Lorraine recommended that we approve a donation to Providence Road in the amount of $300 in the name of Sharon Odenwald. Ildi Gajda made the motion, and it was seconded by Geri Blazek. The motion was approved with a unanimous vote by membership.

  • B. LADY OF THE MONTH – SEPTEMBER was Mary Lynn Segalla

  • C. AUXILIARY KEYBOARD – MARY LYNN SEGALLA offered to purchase the keyboard from the Auxiliary so that an LSU Exchange Student could use it. Membership voted to sell the keyboard to her for $1.00.

  • D. BAKE SALE – (SVDP) Yes or No Members voted to hold the Bake Sale, but when asked if anyone would like to Chair the event, no one came forward. President, Grace Cazes contacted Amy Lawler to see if she could Chair the event and she agreed. The usual date for this event is the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. November 18, 4:00 pm Mass, November 19, 7:30 am, 9:30 am and 11:30 am Masses. President, Grace Cazes will be seeking approval from the Church office to reserve these dates.

  • E. PATCH / APRON UPDATE – GRACE CAZES Grace showed the members a completely new apron and handed out patches for those ladies who requested them.

  • F. 50/50 GAME – FAYE COORPENDER Due to Faye’s absence this month, Grace Cazes and Eretta Perrien worked the 50/50. The winner was Geri Blazek

  • G. COFFEE & DONUTS – OCTOBER 22 (7:30 & 9:30), NOVEMBER 12 (9:30 Mass) & DECEMBER 10 (9:30 Mass) – Volunteers Needed - The October 22 date is a membership drive for the KCs. Grace Cazes will work the auxiliary table after the 7:30am Mass and Lorraine Lauret will work after the 9:30 am Mass. Marty Mumphrey and Lester Hitchcock have volunteered to set up and clean up for October. Volunteers are still needed for November 12 and December 10.

  • H. ANY NEW BUSINESS TO BE ADDED TO NEXT MONTH’S AGENDA Bake Sale will be added to the October and November agendas.

7. KC OFFICER MEETING INFORMATION

  • Seminary Raffle Tickets available ($5.00 PER TICKET)

  • Tootsie Roll Drive – October 12-14. See Mickey B. for signup to work at Hi Nabor

  • New Website – will go live September 1, 2023

  • Soccer Challenge – September 24, 2023

  • Born to Run (Marty providing sausage po’boys) – November 4, 2023

8. ONGOING BUSINESS

  • A. Sanctuary House/St. Patrick House: Laura Roshto/Lynn Hitchcock, Melinda Leblanc

  • B. Fun Things to Do – ideas Paula Huckabee volunteered to plan a visit to the Church in Amite when the weather gets a little better.

  • C. By-Laws Editing (To be done after completion of new name/logo efforts) Committee will be appointed by President, Grace Cazes

CALENDAR OF EVENTS

See reverse side of agenda Eretta Perrien and Mickey Brown will lead the Rosary on September 16 at 3:15 p.m.
